The Sandy Beach Dessert

15 Aug

Our family recently went on vacation to the beach. It was fun playing in the sand and splashing in the waves. Everyone had a great time.  Due to this recent vacation, it came as no surprise that both Silas and I were excited to learn about a recipe called “Sandy Beach”.  It was with minds full of happy memories that we wondered what this fun sounding dessert could be.

Sandy Beach” is a dessert created by Jodie Fitz who runs the Price Chopper Kids Cooking Club.   This is a simple, fun dessert that everyone enjoyed.

Silas you are a super chef. Sydney you are a super cook, too and and an important taster.

Becky thank you so much for posting all these videos. It must be a lot of work to do the setup for each project… and then the editing of the videos. You’re doing a super job — and your videos mean a lot to so many of us. And we learn new ideas and projects.

Grampa and I are so happy you posted another Silas and Sydney video. We check every day and watch them over and over. Cause we miss being with you in person. When we visited with Grandpa Arthur and Grammy Grace today, we told them about the new videos and what the kids are doing. They get a lot of joy from hearing about all of this.

We’re thankful that we can see Silas and Sydney cooking and creating things. It’s great to see how both of them are growing up and changing right before our eyes.

Soon we’ll have some free weekends and will be able to come to your house and watch the kids make stuff in real time.

Nana: its funny that you mentioned about the set-up etc. for these baking videos. It really isn’t that bad in terms of set-up, (you can see dirty dishes in my sink and random toys on the floor, so its not like I go crazy and make it spotless). But I was just thinking of making a video of what it looks like when I am actually baking with them like normal, and its not all layed out.

Glad you guys like the videos, and that G+G like them too. We can’t wait for a visit and perhaps we can sneak in some Gluten Free baking episodes all together.

As usual it was a great show. What I really wanted to see was after a little taste how much of that huge bowl of dessert Silas and Sydney were able to finish.

Some classic quotes! “Can I watch Curious George?” and “Don’t eat it all, hon! Save some for me, ok?”

How funny is it that Silas calls her “hon”? She is getting so big too Becky! Wow, I can’t believe it. Very cute My Kids Make this week.

They really are too funny. I laugh the whole time I am videoing. The “hun” thing is really funny too. I call curtis that so they picked it up and call each other “hun” all the time.

Oh, and after their gigantic bites straight from the bowl I decided to just scoop them some into kid sized bowls. They really were only getting the whip cream anyways! haha.

I’m going to make “Sandy Beach”…. and I’ll put in some bananas (for banana pudding – Dad’s favorite). Maybe the banana slices can be the sea shells on the sandy beach :-)

Again… thanks for another great recipe.

Fun idea putting banana’s in as shells. I like that.

HI there! It was fun to meet you and cook with you a couple of weeks ago. I’m so glad you liked my Sandy Beach recipe and are sharing it with others. Keep up the good work and cooking fun :) And, enjoy those last few weeks of beach weather….

I too love the spoons in the bowl…what every kid would want to do (but most of us I fear would have said no). Now licking the bowl and spoons, definitely! Great job everyone…I agree with Nanna, it keeps us up to date and they get watched over and over. Great job Honey (I mean Silas and Sydney).

Looks yummy. Your cousin Haydn has always loved vanilla wafers so he would probably love this dessert. You two seem like good cooks and good friends, too.
    P.S. Silas’ “hun” was darling!
