Hanging Orange Bird Feeder

6 Jan

We are determined to watch birds from our window,  so we have created another bird feeder for them.   This morning Silas said to me, “Mom we need to go tell the birds to come eat their food. Can I go out and yell to them?” Cute. Cute.

We had a a few clementines that had been sitting on the counter for a while {that no one wanted to eat for some reason}.  I decided to cut them up and make bird feeders out of them!

My Kids Make a Hanging Orange Bird Feeder, and yours can too! Really, its easy. Give it a try.

If nothing else, these feeders are pretty. The orange is a nice contrast against the white snow and the greens & browns of the trees.   They look fantastic out there!

Take a clementine or an orange. Slice it.

We used yarn and a large needle to tie the orange slices together.  Thread the yarn through each slice a few times to ensure it is sturdy.

Then, tie your Hanging Orange Bird Feeder to a tree and enjoy the view!

They look good enough for ME to eat!! I love oranges (clementines)! I hope the birds come soon to your yard.

The oranges look great. I’ll put some of my clemintines outside.

To attract birds….It might be helpful if you put out a regular bird feeder with sunflower seeds in it. And maybe throw some seeds on the ground. We weren’t getting any birds to the feeders, until I did put some on the ground for the ground feeders like cardinals.
